Description
A chocolate liqueur from Golles in Austria, built on Zotter fine cocoa from the bean to bar factory in Riegersburg, where cocoa is sourced from countries including Belize, Guatemala and Peru. The chocolate character here comes from distilling that fine cocoa rather than from added syrup alone, which gives the liqueur its concentrated cocoa identity. Bottled at 17%, it sits in the dessert and after dinner part of a back bar, where real chocolate depth matters more than sweetness.
The nose is dark chocolate, the palate strong and roasted, leaning on cocoa, dark chocolate and vanilla with a soft cream and hazelnut edge. In a drink it supplies genuine cocoa body and colour, so it deepens a chocolate Martini or a White Russian and rounds out an Espresso Martini riff with bitter chocolate weight. It also pours neat over ice as a dessert measure alongside a rich pudding. Serve iced or chilled to tighten the texture.
