Description
Badel Kruskovac is a pear liqueur from Croatia, made by Badel 1862, a long established Croatian house founded in 1862 and known for its fruit brandies and liqueurs. Kruskovac is one of its best known products and a Balkan favourite, a sweet pear liqueur in the traditional macerated fruit style where the pear is the whole point, bottled at 24%. Badel works across spirits and liqueurs from fruit brandies to sweet liqueurs, and Kruskovac sits among its signature bottles.
The nose is fruity with hints of pear, the palate fruity and sweetish with ripe pear, carried by vanilla and a soft, creamy edge into a long finish. Behind the bar it works as a sweet pear modifier, adding ripe fruit flavour and sweetness, which makes it a good mixer and a popular shot poured into espresso. In the Balkans it is the pear half of a Julischka, mixed with Badel's plum brandy Sljivovica in a 1:10 ratio, and it lifts fruit forward long drinks and sours. Serve it chilled, over ice, or stirred into a fruity cocktail.
