Description
Yuza Distillery opened in 2018 on the Yamagata coast, run by Kinryu, and quickly established itself as a precise, small-batch producer of single malt whisky. This 4 Years Old expression was distilled in 2018 and bottled in 2022, giving it a compact but focused maturation at one of Japan's newer and most carefully run coastal sites.
Four years in Ex-Bourbon casks draws out bright fresh fruit and sweet vanilla, the hallmarks of Yuza's elegant new-make character. Bottled at cask strength of 61%, it carries the directness of a young spirit that has taken on wood without being overwhelmed by it, a combination of coastal Yamagata air and bourbon oak that gives the whisky a clean, lively energy.
