Nikka Pure Malt – Red (LMDW)

Nikka Pure Malt Red (LMDW) is a no age statement blended malt from Nikka, selected and bottled by La Maison du Whisky for an event market. Drawing on malt from the Yoichi distillery in Hokkaido and the Miyagikyo distillery in Miyagi Prefecture, it is bottled at 43% in a 500ml format with Ex-Bourbon maturation.

The Pure Malt Red designation within Nikka's colour-coded Pure Malt series traditionally leans toward the fruitier, sweeter register, placing Miyagikyo's orchard fruit and floral character in the foreground while Yoichi contributes its firmer malt backbone. Ex-Bourbon casks add vanilla, new wood and a light cereal note to the citrus and honey that animate the blend, with a hay-like dryness on the finish that is characteristic of the Nikka malt style.
