Description
Yamazaki Taka is a Suntory house blend rather than a single malt, drawing malt whisky from the Yamazaki distillery in Osaka and the forest distillery at Hakushu in Yamanashi together with light grain whisky from Chita in Aichi. It is an everyday expression of the company's three sites in concert, built for easy drinking and balance rather than the signature character of any one distillery.
Matured in oak casks, it leads with honey and soft orchard fruit, vanilla and a rounded sweetness from the grain, with a gentle sandalwood incense note of the kind Suntory draws from Japanese oak running quietly beneath. The Yamazaki and Hakushu malts give a little shape and depth while the Chita grain lends a clean, smooth texture. At 40% it stays light and approachable, an uncomplicated blend that reflects the measured, harmonious style Suntory carries across its more casual range.
