Description
Distilled at Tsunuki in 2017 and bottled in 2020 at 3 Years Old, this is a single cask single malt from Hombo Shuzo's Kagoshima distillery, drawn from cask 5108, a second fill bourbon barrel, and released as a distillery event bottling. At three years, this sits at the minimum maturation age, offering a direct look at Tsunuki's new make character with limited wood modification.
The second fill format means the cask has already surrendered its most active vanilla and tannin to a previous fill, so the wood contribution is lighter and the distillery's grain character shows more clearly. Tsunuki's warm Kagoshima climate still drives notable interaction even from a second fill at this age. At 61% cask strength, the spirit is full-intensity and likely shows the fresh, tropical and grain-forward profile typical of young Tsunuki, with woodspice present but restrained. A technically informative release for those tracing Tsunuki's early distilling years.
