Description
Taketsuru 17 Years Old is Nikka's blended malt named for the company's founder and draws on malt whisky produced at two sites: Yoichi on the Hokkaido coast and Miyagikyo in the river valleys of Miyagi Prefecture. This global edition was bottled in 2018 at 43%, making it one of the standard international releases within the 17 year range.
Matured in Ex-Bourbon oak, the whisky carries the vanilla and soft fruit that the cask type encourages, with Yoichi's firmer, oilier character anchoring the blend while Miyagikyo's gentle orchard fruit and floral sweetness give it lift and approachability. In the typical Taketsuru style, the integration across the two malt profiles is the defining quality.
