Description
Suntory The Peninsula Tokyo is a limited event release bottled in 2014 for The Peninsula hotel in Tokyo, blending malt whisky from the Yamazaki distillery in Osaka Prefecture and the Hakushu distillery in Yamanashi Prefecture with Chita grain from Aichi Prefecture. Produced for a specific hospitality venue, it represents a bespoke expression of Suntory's three-distillery blending approach.
Matured entirely in Oloroso casks, the blend shows a richer and more sherried character than the standard Hibiki range: cooked dark fruit, dried vine fruit and a warming sweetness from the sherry-seasoned wood, with the grain from Chita providing a smooth underlying texture. At 43%, it is rich and rounded, with the Oloroso influence giving it a distinctly warm and aromatic finish.
