Description
Bottled in 2015, this On The Way release comes from an early period in Chichibu's production history, when the distillery founded by Ichiro Akuto in Saitama in 2008 was still establishing its cask programme and releasing spirit that was relatively young. At 55.5% cask strength and NAS, it is a global release matured in Ex-Bourbon wood.
The recorded flavour data gives a clear portrait of the era: fresh fruit, new wood and vanilla from the bourbon barrel, with husky grain, malt extract and a nutty quality that points to the spirit's youthful character. New wood is prominent, a natural feature of a young distillery working with relatively new barrels and young spirit. The profile is lively and vigorous in the way Chichibu's early releases consistently were, and historically significant as a document of the distillery's early output.
