Description
Cask number 6179 is a 2016 vintage Chichibu single malt drawn from an Ex-Bourbon barrel and bottled in 2024 at 63.7% by La Maison du Whisky for France. Chichibu distillery, operated by Venture Whisky in Saitama prefecture, was founded in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto, who built the site to revive a family tradition that traces back through the now-silent Hanyu distillery.
Seven years of Ex-Bourbon maturation places this cask at a characterful and accessible point in the distillery's development, where the American oak has given vanilla, caramel and warm spice without dominating the fruit-bright new make beneath. The flavour data for this cask is not specified, so the profile sits within Chichibu's well-documented Ex-Bourbon register: clean, sweetly fruited and cereally rounded. At 63.7% the bottling carries cask strength intensity and a satisfying palate presence.
