Description

Chichibu Distillery in Saitama was established by Ichiro Akuto in 2008 and quickly earned a following through its transparent single cask releases and meticulous cask management. Cask #3912 was distilled in 2014, matured in Ex-Bourbon wood and bottled in 2020 at 62% for the US market, presented in a 750ml bottle appropriate to that destination.

Ex-Bourbon maturation sits at the centre of Chichibu's cask programme and, at six years, this release shows the house's signature vivid fruit character shaped by American oak: fresh apple and pear, vanilla and a subtle baking spice, all underpinned by the distillery's lively new make. The US bottling specification and cask strength delivery make it a particularly direct expression of what Chichibu does with ex-bourbon wood.
