Chichibu Single Cask #5743 8 Years Old 2012 (Red Wine)

Cask #5743 from Chichibu's 2012 vintage spent eight years in a red wine cask and was bottled in 2020 as an event-only single-cask release at cask strength. Chichibu, Venture Whisky's distillery founded in Saitama by Ichiro Akuto in 2008, maintains an unusually varied cask inventory that includes red wine, Bordeaux, Pinot Noir and Port wood alongside the more common Ex-Bourbon barrels.

Eight years in red wine oak gives the spirit a depth of dark berry, plum and dried cherry that is less typical of Chichibu's standard output, adding a vinous weight over the distillery's inherently bright fruit base. At 62.9% cask strength the result is full and warming, with the wine wood's tannin providing structure alongside the fruit. The event-only market designation makes this a limited, targeted release.
