Description
Cask #1776 from Chichibu's 2012 distillation was selected by La Maison du Whisky for the French market and bottled in 2019 after seven years in Ex-Bourbon wood. Chichibu, founded in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto in Saitama prefecture under Venture Whisky, produces a modest annual volume with access to an unusually diverse cask inventory for a distillery of its age.
Seven years in Ex-Bourbon oak brings integrated vanilla and coconut sweetness, underpinned by the distillery's lively green fruit and fresh malt character. At 63.4% straight from a single barrel, this is a full-throttle, unfiltered snapshot of the 2012 vintage. The French-market exclusivity and the precise single-cask provenance make it a well-documented example of Chichibu at mid-maturity.
