Description

Chichibu distillery in Saitama, founded by Ichiro Akuto under Venture Whisky in 2008, produces small volumes of malt whisky from a wide variety of casks. Cask #2243, distilled in 2012 and matured for seven years, was bottled in 2019 as a distillery-selected event release at cask strength.

Seven years in Ex-Bourbon oak brings a pronounced vanilla and coconut sweetness while allowing Chichibu's lively, fruit-driven new make character to persist. At 62.5% from a single barrel, the spirit is intense and direct, with the toasted cereal and fresh orchard fruit notes that are typical of the house at this age. No dilution, no filtering, and a single provenance make this a clean snapshot of the 2012 vintage.
