A twenty four year old single cask from Caroni, the legendary Trinidad distillery that closed in 2003, this heavy mark was aged in ex-bourbon oak and bottled at full strength of 62.1% by That Boutique-y Rum Company.
Description
Caroni is the most mythologised name in Trinidad rum, a distillery established in 1918 on the Caroni plain that ceased production around 2003. Stocks from its final years are finite and prized by collectors, and this single cask is a heavy mark carrying twenty four years of age, matured in ex-bourbon oak and bottled at cask strength of 62.1% by That Boutique-y Rum Company, an honest, no additive bottler. Heavy Caroni in this style is the archetypal industrial rum, typically showing tar, burnt rubber, diesel and machine oil over dark and dried tropical fruit, smoke, liquorice and deep oak. Oily and dense, it is a savoury, smoky pour built for those who seek out that petrol and tropical fruit intensity, with the high strength carrying it.
