This is a Barbados rum from Planteray, the Maison Ferrand brand formerly called Plantation, drawn from the 2017 vintage and finished in an Adriatico Amaretto cask for its Barrel Swap Collection. Maison Ferrand uses dosage in its rums, so this is firmly in the rounded, sweetened style rather than the island's no-additives camp.

Built from molasses and aged in ex-bourbon oak before its amaretto finish, the cask dominates: intense almond, marzipan, cherry and caramel on the nose, then almond, honey, spice and sweetness on the palate, finishing on marzipan, cream toffee and a roasted edge. The texture is syrupy and the amaretto influence runs strong enough that the Barbados base is hard to find underneath. Honest about what it is, this is a sweet, almond-driven dessert pour, a fun experiment for amaretto and liqueur lovers rather than drinkers seeking classic dry Barbados character.
