A light column-still blend from Ferroni at 40 percent, aged briefly, with soft wood, vanilla, caramel and stone fruit leading to a creme-brulee finish, a smooth aperitif sipper or easy mixer if a fairly average one.
Description
Ferroni Ambre is an accessible molasses blend bottled at 40 percent, built from column-still rum aged around eighteen months in ex-bourbon oak. It sits at the easygoing end of the Marseille house's range, an aperitif-style pour rather than one of its cask-strength statements.
The profile is soft and gourmand: gentle wood, vanilla and caramel with honey and stone fruit, peach and white grape, leading to a sweet, creme-brulee finish. The short maturation and modest strength keep it light and uncomplicated, which is both its appeal and its limit, as it offers easy drinking rather than depth or age-driven character. It suits a relaxed aperitif pour or a simple cocktail well enough, a smooth and undemanding everyday rum that does not aim to challenge.
