Description
From the Italian bottler Wilson and Morgan, a 25 year old Glen Keith, distilled in 1993, from cask 8513, bottled at 55.5%, one of 157 bottles. Glen Keith is a Speyside single malt known for a light, sweet, fruity character. It sits within sight of Strathisla, the oldest distillery in Scotland.
The spirit was worked through the tall stills for a light, sweet make, for a clean make of orchard fruit and a soft honey. Ex-Bourbon casks held it, the gentle American oak letting the light fruit lead. Through the evaporative decades the spirit concentrates, esters folding into mango, beeswax and a soft honey. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Keith character lead the way. Active wood frames the fruit without overwhelming the light Speyside spirit. The tall, narrowing stills give a light spirit that takes the cask well. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit.
At its natural 55.5% it is concentrated. Pear, melon and a light honey, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Beneath it run green apple, pear and a soft vanilla. A long, fruity finish carries a green apple and a soft spice. This is a light Speyside single malt from the town of Keith.
