Description
Gordon & MacPhail, founded in Elgin in 1895, pioneered the bottling of single malts as single malts. This 31 year old Littlemill, from cask 549 came off the stills in 1991 and was bottled in 2023, in the Connoisseurs Choice - Cask Strength range. Nothing new will ever come from Bowling, which makes survivors like this increasingly hard to find.
Thirty-one years in ex-Bourbon frame Littlemill's floral, fruity character.
Bottled at 44.5%, the bourbon cask lends vanilla and creamy fudge. A gentle, fruity Lowland malt, fragrant and clean. Slow extraction from low-tannin American oak gives vanilla and a creamy sweetness without ever overpowering the make. Decades of slow evaporation have softened the strength and concentrated the fruit, the price of great age in a damp warehouse.
