Description

Casado is an 8 year old Kilchoman matured in ex-Bourbon and red wine casks, the name nodding to the marriage of the two woods. An outturn of 12,900 bottles. The Wills family's Kilchoman, founded in 2005, is the only farm distillery on Islay.

The distillery grows and malts barley on site and bottles on the farm. Matured in ex-Bourbon and red wine casks, the bourbon wood gives the base and the wine cask dark fruit.

Bottled at 46%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanilla, the red wine cask dark berry and plum, while peat phenols carry the smoke. The recorded notes run to honey, smoke, leather, a medicinal edge, tobacco and dried fruit. A wine-influenced farm malt.
