Kilchoman The Kilchoman Club – 13th Edition 9 Years Old 2015

This 9 Years Old was the 13th Edition for The Kilchoman Club, an Oloroso single cask from 2015, cask 209. An outturn of 718 bottles. Kilchoman, founded by Anthony Wills in 2005, was the first new distillery on Islay in over 124 years.

The distillery malts its own barley and bottles on the farm. Matured in a single Oloroso cask over nine years, the sherry wood wraps the peated spirit in dark fruit.

Bottled at its natural cask strength of 57.2%. The sherry gives dried fruit, melanoidins reading as fig and raisin, and peat phenols the smoke. The recorded notes run to chocolate, a coal-gas edge, dried fruit, leather, a medicinal edge and seasoned oak. A club sherried single cask.
