Description

An Samhradh is the summer release of Kilchoman's Uniquely Islay Series, here an 8 year old from 2013 matured in Sauternes, drawn from cask 738. An outturn of 265 bottles for Germany. Founded by Anthony Wills in 2005 at Rockside Farm, Kilchoman is the only farm distillery on Islay.

At Rockside Farm the whole process runs from barley to bottle on one site. Matured in a single Sauternes cask, the sweet wine wood adds honeyed fruit to the young peated spirit.

Bottled at its natural cask strength of 55.8%. The Sauternes gives honeyed apricot and candied citrus while peat phenols carry the smoke. The recorded notes run to citrus, cooked fruit, fresh fruit, a kippered maritime note, leather and malt sweetness. A Sauternes summer single cask.
