Description

This Red Wine Cask Matured is a 5 year old from 2012, matured in red wine casks. An outturn of 7,000 bottles. Kilchoman is the only farm distillery on Islay, founded by Anthony Wills in 2005.

Kilchoman handles malting through bottling on its own Islay farm. Matured in red wine casks, the wine wood brings dark fruit and a drying grip to the young peated spirit.

Bottled at 50%. The red wine cask gives dark berry and plum with wine tannins, while peat phenols carry the smoke. The recorded notes run to chocolate, dried fruit, an oily texture and smoke. A red wine matured farm malt.
