Description

This Vintage release is an 8 year old from 2009, a dated-vintage bottling of Kilchoman in Oloroso and ex-Bourbon. Kilchoman is the only farm distillery on Islay, founded by Anthony Wills in 2005.

Kilchoman malts its barley on site and bottles on the farm, a barley to bottle approach rare in Scotch. Matured in Oloroso and ex-Bourbon casks, the two woods give dried fruit and vanilla.

Bottled at 46%. The Oloroso gives dried fruit, the ex-Bourbon vanilla, while peat phenols carry the smoke. The recorded notes run to smoke, tobacco, chocolate, dried fruit and leather. A dated-vintage sherried farm malt.
