Description
This Feis Ile 2013 Release was Kilchoman's bottling for the Islay festival, a 5 year old vatted from two ex-Bourbon casks from 2008. An outturn of 526 bottles. Kilchoman, founded by Anthony Wills in 2005, is the only farm distillery on Islay.
The distillery malts its own barley and bottles on the farm, a barley to bottle approach. Matured in ex-Bourbon casks, the wood frames the young peated spirit.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 60.1%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanilla and citrus while peat phenols drive the smoke, the high strength sharpening both. A young, powerful festival vatting.
