Description

This 16 Years Old is among the older Kilchoman releases, matured in ex-Bourbon and Oloroso. An outturn of 5,000 bottles. Kilchoman is the only farm distillery on Islay, founded by Anthony Wills in 2005.

The distillery grows and malts barley on site and bottles on the farm. Matured in ex-Bourbon and Oloroso casks over sixteen years, the two woods give vanilla and dried fruit.

Bottled at 50%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanilla, the Oloroso dried fruit, while peat phenols carry the smoke. The recorded notes run to honey, a medicinal edge, a sherried character, chocolate, a leafy note and an oily texture. An older farm malt.
