Description
The Sound is part of Isle of Jura's travel-led range, the island malt matured in ex-Bourbon and Pedro Ximenez casks, named for the Sound of Islay that separates Jura from its neighbour. The Jura distillery, the island's only one, rose again in 1963 after the original had fallen to ruin.
The distillery's light, clean spirit takes sherry gently. Matured in ex-Bourbon and Pedro Ximenez casks, the bourbon wood leads with the PX adding a sweet layer.
Bottled at 42.5%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanilla and the Pedro Ximenez a raisin sweetness from its melanoidins. The recorded notes run to vanilla, citrus, honey and chocolate. The gentlest and sweetest of the travel-led Jura range.
