Description
Camas an Staca is Isle of Jura's 30 year old, named for the ancient standing stone on the island. Three decades in Oloroso sherry make it one of the distillery's deepest core releases. Jura is the only distillery on its remote Hebridean island, revived in 1963 after the original lay in ruins for over sixty years.
The distillery's light, tall-still spirit takes sherry well over a long maturation. Matured in Oloroso casks, the wood pulls three decades of the honeyed malt into dark, dried-fruit territory.
Bottled at 44%. The Oloroso gives dried fruit, melanoidins reading as fig and raisin, with tannins adding a walnut dryness. The recorded note is chocolate, over a waxy, aged depth. A rich and venerable island thirty.
