The Daily Dram is one of the bottling labels operated by The Nectar, the Belgian indie partnership run by Mario Groteklaes and Jan van den Ende. The firm presents single casks at natural strength under direct cask reference, drawing from a deep working inventory. This Glenrothes 10 Years Old, distilled in 2012 and bottled in 2022 at 56% from a Palo Cortado cask, was released into the Netherlands market.

Palo Cortado occupies a rare position in the sherry spectrum, beginning biologically aged under flor like a Fino but losing the flor and finishing oxidatively without ever reaching the full sweetness of an Oloroso. The casks themselves arrive carrying both biological and oxidative signatures, contributing yeasty depth alongside dried fruit chemistry. Ten years in Palo Cortado wood at 56% delivers a layered profile distinct from either Amontillado or Oloroso routes, with the cask's biological era contributions emerging clearly.

On the nose, dark chocolate sits with a citric lift and a faint smoky undertone, signalling the cask's biologically aged origin alongside oxidative character. The palate carries dried apricot, honeyed barley and a savoury nutty depth, the 56% strength delivering the cask's chemistry without overwhelming. The finish is medium long with a clean European oak grip, the Palo Cortado's hybrid signature leaving a complex tail rather than a single dominant note.
