Description
Yoichi 10 Years Old is a single malt from Nikka's Yoichi distillery in Hokkaido, one of the only whisky distilleries in Japan still firing its pot stills directly with coal. The result is a spirit with a heavier, oilier body than most Japanese malts and a subtle natural smokiness that no wood or peated malt adds, the coal simply burns hotter and less evenly than steam, imparting texture to the new make.
Ten years in Ex-Bourbon casks in Hokkaido's cool, humid maritime climate develop the Yoichi character toward baked fruit and vanilla while retaining the peat and brine that define this particular coastline. This market variant was released to Germany at 45%, showing the standard Yoichi 10 profile without modification.
