Description
This Cask Collection release from West Cork Distillers is a single malt finished in casks that held Calvados Garnier apple brandy. West Cork has run its own distillery at Skibbereen in Co. Cork since 2003, and this 2019 bottling carries no age statement, letting the cask do the talking over a young, fruit forward spirit.
Matured first in bourbon barrels for vanilla and honey, then rounded out by the Calvados cask, it shows fresh orchard fruit, a nutty warmth and a touch of chocolate against a citrus lift. Bottled at 43%, it stays clean and approachable, the apple brandy influence adding orchard depth without overwhelming the malt.
