Description
W. & J. Graham's Tawny Port 10 Years Old is the youngest of the house's age-indicated Tawnies, blended to a ten-year average age at the Graham's lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia. It is the entry point to the range and a good introduction to the aged-Tawny style.
The wine matures oxidatively in seasoned wooden casks, where a decade of measured air contact begins to fade the ruby colour toward tawny and to layer nut and honey notes over the underlying red fruit, without yet reaching the deep dried-fruit concentration of the older bottlings.
The nose shows nutty aromas with hints of honey and fig; the palate is rich with mellowed mature fruit and a long, luscious finish. It is the most versatile of the range, good lightly chilled as an after-dinner glass, with coffee and dark chocolate, or with a plate of dried fruit and nuts.
