Description
This is W. & J. Graham's Late Bottled Vintage Port 2020, a single-vintage Douro fortified wine from the house's four estate vineyards, presented here in a one-litre bottle.
The wine draws mainly on Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional with Sousao, Tinta Barroca and other traditional Douro grapes, from a hot, low-yielding year that concentrated the fruit. Fermentation is stopped early with grape spirit to retain natural sweetness, after which the wine spends several years in large oak vats. That extended cask time softens the tannins and leaves an LBV that is already approachable on release, unlike a bottle-aged Vintage Port.
The result is a full, velvety Port with black cherry, blackberry and plum lifted by cocoa, liquorice and fine spice, closing long and firm. It suits dark chocolate desserts, mature cheddar and blue cheese, or a cigar, and can be poured without decanting.
