Description
Villa Sandi makes this frizzante from Glera, the classic Prosecco grape, in a lighter, semi-sparkling format at 10 percent alcohol. Maturation in steel tanks preserves the clear fruit and fine floral nuances, keeping the wine fresh and modern in style rather than building autolytic complexity. The frizzante bottling carries a lower pressure than a full spumante, so the bead is gentle and the wine is built for easy, everyday drinking with a clean, dry finish.
The colour is light straw with a fine, lively perlage. The nose is floral and fruity, with an elegant freshness and a light citrus edge. The palate is dry and light, with green apple, pear, lemon and white peach carried by lively acidity and a fresh, aromatic finish. This is a wine to drink young, within a few years of the vintage, while the fruit is at its brightest. Serve well chilled at around 6 to 8 degrees in a tulip glass. It works as a light aperitif and alongside antipasti, summer salads and fine finger food.
