Description
Villa Sandi builds this frizzante as a cuvee from selected north east Italian vineyards, working with the region's fresh white grapes led by Glera. It is a semi-sparkling wine at 10 percent alcohol, made in the tank method with the fruit kept cool to hold its bright, primary character. The lower pressure gives a soft, prickling bead rather than a firm mousse, and the medium body and dry finish make it an easy, versatile pour rather than a wine built for ageing.
The colour is very light straw with a fine, lively effervescence. The nose is fruity and floral, with an elegant freshness and a soft citrus lift. The palate is fresh and lively, with green apple, pear and citrus over a medium body and a gentle prickle, closing aromatic and clean. Serve well chilled at around 8 to 10 degrees in a tulip glass. It works as an aperitif and alongside vegetable snacks, fine starters and light shellfish.
