Description
Veuve Clicquot is a historic house in Reims, and this Rose Brut carries its structured, Pinot Noir led style into a pink Champagne. The blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier is coloured by adding around 12 percent still red wine from Pinot Noir, which brings aromatic depth and the radiant rose tone. It is made by the traditional method, with second fermentation in the bottle and several years on the lees, which builds the bready, almond-edged complexity that frames the red fruit. The Brut dosage keeps it balanced and dry, and the magnum supports slow development.
The colour is a radiant rose with a fine, creamy mousse. The nose is generous, with raspberry, wild strawberry, cherry and blackberry, opening onto baked fruit, sponge cake, almond and apricot. The palate has a fresh attack that settles into a harmonious fruit balance, with an elegant, racy structure and a long, full finish. Serve at around 8 to 9 degrees in a tulip glass. It works as an aperitif and alongside grilled salmon, scallops and grilled poultry.
