Description
Veuve Clicquot created Rich as a sweeter Champagne designed to be poured over ice and mixed with fresh garnishes, and Rich Rosé is the pink expression of that idea. It blends the three Champagne grapes led by Pinot Noir, with red wine added for colour, and is made by the traditional method with ageing on the lees for texture and depth. The defining feature is the higher dosage, a Demi-Sec level of residual sugar that gives a fuller, gently sweet style so the wine holds its balance when ice dilutes it in the glass.
The colour is a bright pink with a lively, fine perlage. The nose is fruit forward, with strawberry, raspberry and cherry alongside ripe stone fruit and a bittersweet grapefruit lift. The palate is generous and gently sweet, with red berries carried by fresh acidity and a soft, creamy mousse. Serve over ice in a large glass at around 8 degrees, garnished with berries, citrus or fresh mint. It suits fruit desserts, grilled poultry and lightly spiced dishes.
