Description
Veuve Clicquot is a historic Reims house built around Pinot Noir, and Yellow Label is its signature non-vintage Brut. The blend is roughly 56 percent Pinot Noir, 28 percent Chardonnay and 16 percent Pinot Meunier, giving structure and depth alongside freshness. It is made by the traditional method, with second fermentation in the bottle and long ageing on the lees, which builds the bready, subtly nutty character under the fruit. The Brut dosage of around 10 g/l keeps it balanced and dry, and the magnum lets the wine mature slowly and evenly.
The colour is a bright golden yellow with a lively bead. The nose brings pear and apple with white peach, citrus peel and a hint of brioche from the lees. The palate is balanced and structured, with fruit complemented by vanilla, roasted almond and a subtle mineral edge, closing long and elegant. Serve at around 8 degrees in a tulip glass. It works as an aperitif and alongside sushi, oysters, scallops and creamy cheeses.
