Uitvlugt RA Rum PM 1993

An Uitvlugt bottling carrying the Port Mourant marque from Germany's Rum Artesanal, distilled in 1993 and continentally aged twenty-five years. The cooler European maturation keeps it leaner and spicier than a tropically aged PM of the same age, letting the still's herbal markers come through clearly.

Matured in ex-bourbon oak and bottled unsweetened at 52.1%, it is dry and spicy, with orange peel, anise, herbs and Christmas bake spices over wood, plus a gluey lift on the nose. A bitter orange streak runs through the palate and finish, a defining quirk that some will love and others find challenging. The alcohol is cleanly handled for the strength. This is honest, characterful old continental Demerara at a notably fair price, full of classic PM signatures.
