Description
The twelve year old Special Reserve is the aged expression of Tullamore D.E.W., the Co. Offaly blend named for Daniel E. Williams. This 2024 release for the European market blends all three Irish whiskey styles, pot still, malt and grain, and carries more sherry influence than the core bottling.
Maturation runs through ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, the American oak giving vanilla and toffee while the sherry brings dried fruit and a gentle nuttiness. Twelve years rounds the blend into something soft and mellow, with the pot still and malt lending orchard fruit and light spice under the grain's smooth sweetness. Bottled at 40%.
