The Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2016 was a highly anticipated release, following the immense success of the 2013 edition, which had been named World Whisky of the Year. Crafted from a blend of over 100 malts, all matured in ex-Oloroso sherry casks, this limited-edition whisky was carefully curated by Suntory’s Chief Blender, Shinji Fukuyo, who personally selected the Spanish oak barrels. These barrels were used after aging sherry wine for three years, ensuring deep, rich flavors were imparted to the whisky. Bottled at 48% ABV with no age statement, the 2016 edition featured the bold and intense sherried character that the series had become famous for. Only 5,000 bottles were released worldwide, making this release highly coveted by collectors and connoisseurs alike.
