The Glasgow Distillery Co. 1770 Glasgow 2019 Cask #19/1537 and 19/1538

This 1770 Glasgow single malt, a 7 year old release from 2019, drawn from cask 19/1537 and 19/1538 and bottled at 53.3%. A release of 730 bottles. The Glasgow Distillery Company, set up in 2012 in Hillington, was Glasgow's first malt distillery in over a hundred years. It was the first single malt distillery to work in Glasgow since the old Glasgow Distillery at Dundashill closed in 1902.

Run through the distillery's copper pot stills, to build a clean, orchard fruit character. Maturation in a fortified or wine cask lent red fruit and spice. A young, vibrant spirit and a bold cask suit one another here. Production has grown year on year as demand for Glasgow malt has risen. The Glasgow Distillery Company was founded in 2012, the first malt distillery in Glasgow in over a century. Its 1770 name recalls the old Glasgow Distillery at Dundashill, founded in 1770 and closed in 1902.

Undiluted at 53.3%, it is powerful. Orchard fruit and a light honey lead, and the Port cask adds plum and red berry. Beneath it run apple, pear and a soft spice. The finish is bright, spiced and warming. This is a vibrant young malt from the city of Glasgow.
