Description

This official 1770 Glasgow single malt, a 4 year old Glasgow malt from 2017, drawn from cask 17/598 and bottled at 55.8%. Only 408 bottles were released. Based in Hillington in the southwest of Glasgow, The Glasgow Distillery Company has made single malt since 2015. Makar Gin came first, in 2014, and helped fund the return of whisky to the city.

It was distilled twice in copper pot stills for a fruity spirit, building the Fresh and Fruity house style. Ex-Sherry wood added a dried fruit richness, fast on the young spirit. The distillery treats wood as the main lever on a spirit still finding its age. It was named Scottish Distillery of the Year in 2020. The make is bright and fruity, a modern, metropolitan take on Lowland malt. Production has grown year on year as demand for Glasgow malt has risen. The Glasgow Distillery Company was founded in 2012, the first malt distillery in Glasgow in over a century.

At a full 55.8% it is bold and fruity. A fresh, fruity sweetness lead, and the Marsala lends raisin and brown sugar. It is bright and full, the young spirit shining through. The finish runs fresh, lively and clean. This is a young, fruity Glasgow single malt.
