Description
This 1770 Glasgow single malt, aged 6 year old from 2015, drawn from cask 15/165 and bottled at 61.7%. The outturn was 570 bottles. Based in Hillington in the southwest of Glasgow, The Glasgow Distillery Company has made single malt since 2015. The distillery is known for adventurous cask maturation, from Cognac and Marsala to Port and Tequila.
It was distilled twice in copper pot stills for a fruity spirit, building the Fresh and Fruity house style. Maturation in a sherry cask laid dried fruit over the fruit. The distillery's adventurous cask policy is built to bring young whisky to life. The first single malt casks were filled in 2015, the first whisky released in 2018. The distillery is known for an adventurous cask policy, from Cognac and Marsala to Port and Tequila. The 1770 single malt comes in three styles: The Original, the Peated and the Triple Distilled.
Bottled at a cask strength 61.7%, it is intense. A fresh, fruity sweetness lead, and the Oloroso brings dried fruit, fig and a nutty depth. Soft orchard fruit sits behind the cask sweetness. Orchard fruit and a soft oak see out the finish. This is a cask driven young Lowland malt from Glasgow.
