Description
Tapatio Reposado is a 100% Blue Weber tequila from La Alteña in Arandas, the highland distillery the Camarena family opened in 1937 and the house from which El Tesoro and Ocho descend. It is the family's domestically rooted brand, built on traditional methods and a reputation for working without additives, here bottled at 38% in the 500 ml format.
The piñas are baked in masonry ovens and the cooked agave is milled before fermentation and twin pot distillation, then the spirit rests four months in used bourbon barrels. That short stay lifts vanilla, caramel and a faint nuttiness over the highland sweetness without burying it, while herbs and a peppery grip keep the cooked-agave core in view. The finish stays soft and gently spiced, balanced between sweet and savoury and at home in a margarita or poured neat.
