Description
Champagne Taittinger is a major Reims house known for its high proportion of Chardonnay, and the Brut Réserve is the wine that defines its style. It uses fruit from many villages across the region, blended for consistency, with Chardonnay bringing elegance and finesse alongside Pinot Noir and Meunier for body. The wine is made by the traditional method and rests on its lees for several years, well beyond the regional minimum, which builds the biscuit and toast character that sits under the fruit.
The colour is bright gold with a fine, persistent mousse. The nose shows apple, pear and white peach with a background of fresh bread and honey. On the palate it is dry and balanced, the orchard fruit meeting a soft brioche note and a clean, lengthy finish. Serve chilled at 8 to 10 degrees in a tulip glass. A natural aperitif, it also suits oysters and other shellfish, white fish and a wedge of hard nutty cheese.
