A cask strength curiosity from Sliabh Liag Distillers of Ardara, Co. Donegal, bottled in 2025 under the Brouwersnös name. The Legendary Silkie blend here takes a finish in a Belgian double beer cask, a nod across the water from one brewing culture to another.
The beer cask works on the blend's ex-Bourbon base the way stout wood does elsewhere in the Silkie range, layering dark chocolate, roasted grain and a faint herbal hop note over vanilla and orchard fruit. At an undiluted 50% it is the burliest way to meet the Silkie house style, best with a drop of water to let the malt and the beer cask talk to each other through the finish.
