Description
The Legendary Silkie is the flagship blend of Sliabh Liag Distillers in Ardara, Co. Donegal, named for the seal folk of local legend. This 2025 release for the Dutch market takes the blend somewhere new, with a finishing spell in casks that previously held Armagnac.
The base matures in ex-Bourbon wood before the Armagnac casks add baked apple, prune and a gingerbread warmth to the blend's soft malt and vanilla. Bottled at 46%, above the core release, it keeps the smooth, faintly maritime character the Silkie blends are known for, with the brandy finish supplying a dried fruit richness that carries through a long, gently spiced close.
