Description
A 21 year old Barbados rum from the 2000 vintage, bottled in the Single Barrel Selection by Denmark's 1423 S.B.S, a detail focused, transparent, unsweetened house. Drawn from West Indies Rum Distillery pot still stock and finished in a Pedro Ximenez sherry cask, it leans toward the smoky Rockley style rather than classic Bajan sweetness.
Matured in oak with a gentle PX finish, it shows dried fruit, tea, smoke and a vegetal edge on the nose, then toasted marshmallow, cigar, charcoal and mocha across a contemplative palate, with the PX adding a syrupy lift rather than overt sugar. The result is a mature, woody, slightly funky sipper that rewards slow attention, drier and more savoury than its sherry finish might suggest. Bottled at 47.1% from a single cask.
