Description
The S.B.S Single Barrel Selection from Danish bottler 1423 is a detail-obsessed, transparent line, and this is a twelve year old Foursquare from Richard Seale's St Philip distillery, distilled in 2013. It is a single blended Barbados rum, pot married with column, bottled at cask strength and without added sugar, in keeping with both 1423's S.B.S ethos and Foursquare's strict no-additives stance.
Matured in ex-bourbon oak, it shows a fresh, clean profile, with light molasses, coconut and oak on the nose and a palate that turns gently sweet with chocolate alongside the wood. The finish stays fresh, woody and lightly roasted with dried fruit behind. At 50% it is balanced and approachable for a cask-strength rum, the recognisable Foursquare character presented cleanly and openly, a dependable choice for drinkers who value Bajan rum done without additives.
